Weather causes two school district closures, wind damage in Jasper County

JASPER COUNTY/TYLER COUNTY - The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is checking reports of wind damage between Jasper and Kirbyville, while high water and the threat of severe weather has led to school closures in Spurger, Warren and West Hardin.

Stay with KFDM Weather and for updates.

Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman tells KFDM News Spurger schools are closed today because of heavy rain moving through the area. His deputies are checking reports of debris in the road, primarily tree limbs, in Roganville, between Jasper and Kirbyville. They're also checking to see if there's any wind damage. So far, there are no injuries and no reports of damage to homes. High water has led to the closure of FM 1745 in Chester.

In Tyler County, Sheriff Bryan Weatherford tells KFDM News the Warren school district is closed. High water on some roads and the threat of severe weather is prompting closures. He told us it would be difficult for buses to get down some roads to pick up students. There are no reports of wind damage in Tyler County.

West Hardin schools are also closed Thursday. They reopen Friday at 10 a.m.
