A dry weather pattern will continue for the next few days with below normal temperatures.  In fact, scattered frost can be expected Sunday morning over the Lakes Area.  A warming trend will begin early next week with a good coverage of showers and thunderstorms by the middle and later part of next week.

Port Arthur church receives historical plaque

PORT ARTHUR -One hundred and one years, Central Baptist church in Port Arthur celebrated its anniversary today with the Texas historical commission.

The commission recognized the church as an official Texas historical marker.

The distinction is earned at 100 years, but it was celebrated today with the unveiling of a plaque.

The church started in 1912 with just 15 members. Today there's about 1,000 members.

The church's historian said the recognition is about more than time it's the role the church played in Port Arthur history.
