Jury selected in murder trial, testimony to begin Tuesday
Prosecutors and a defense attorney in Judge Layne Walkers court have picked a jury in a murder case.
Investigators say 27-year-old Alfred Earl Durousseau of Beaumont killed a man in may of 2010.
He's charged with murdering 50 year old Darrell Lafleur. Beaumont police found Lafleur's body in a vacant lot in the 1900 block of Verone Street near his home. Autopsy results determined Lafleur died of injuries to his head.
In court documents obtained by KFDM News investigators say Durousseau hit Lafleur on the head with a heavy object after the two men got into an argument.
According to those documents, DNA testing confirmed that blood found on Durousseau's clothing matched Lafleur's blood.
If convicted of murder, a first-degree felony, Durousseau would face between five years and life in prison.
Testimony begins Tuesday morning.
