Police tell KFDM News a man robbed BBVA Compass Bank, 700 Calder Avenue, at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
No one was hurt.
Preliminary information from witnesses is that the attacker is a black man in his mid-20's wearing a gray hoodie and shirt pulled up over his face, dark jeans and white tennis shoes.
He walked out the front door with an unknown amount of money, turned to the left and ran away leaving a trail of cash.
Police said bank tellers did exactly what they're trained to do.
"Compass is just like every other bank. They do very extensive training in how to respond to this. It's that training that keeps everybody safe," Sgt. Rob Flores of the Beaumont Police Department said.
The trail of money went into the parking lot at St.Mark's Episcopal Church across the street.
Angela Willis is a supervisor at the church. She said the church doors were open for an 11 a.m. funeral.
"We went through the church just to make sure nothing's been messed with or he's under any of the pews or anything."
Anyone with information should call Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 833-TIPS. A reward up to $1,000 is offered.
