Overnight shooting, 4 received gunshot wounds

PRESS RELEASE - On Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 1:53 a.m.  a man returned home in the 500 block of  Edgemoore and discovered his home had been burglarized. He checked and cleared the residence and discovered it ransacked. He called the police to report the burglary.

He was on the phone with dispatch and saw a suspicious person on the next block, in a private yard. He decided to confront the man and question his possible involvement in the burglary.

He attempted to question the man from a distance when the man pulled a handgun from his waist area and began shooting at a large crowd standing in the roadway. The man fled the scene on foot to an unknown location. Officers arrived on scene and found two victims laying in the roadway suffering with gunshot wounds.

Another victim was located in an adjacent drainage ditch suffering from a gunshot wound. A fourth victim was located inside a residence in the area suffering from a gunshot wound. All victims were transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital by Beaumont EMS. K-9 ran a track, however the actor was not located. None of the injuries to the victims were life threatening.

This aggravated assaults and burglary are still under investigation and there is currently no one in custody.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, possibly in his twenties, wearing dark clothing with a black hoodie sweater over his head
