Cause of Vidor structure fire determined

ORANGE COUNTY - Investigators say food left on the stove sparked a fire that destroyed a home in the Lakeview area in Orange County.

The fire began this morning in the kitchen of a home on Connolly Road outside of Vidor. One person was home at the time who was able to get out safely.

Four people live in the home and the Red Cross is helping them find a place to stay.

The Vidor Volunteer Fire Department spent hours at the scene spraying water on the fire and putting out hot spots.

The fire destroyed the home and total damage was around $80,000 including the home and everything inside.
