Investigators say woman kills estranged common-law husband in Hardin County after he breaks into home and attacks her

HARDIN COUNTY - Hardin County Sheriff's Office investigators tell KFDM News a woman shot and killed her estranged common-law husband, Bobby Ray Anderson, after he broke into her home through the back door and attacked her.

Stay with KFDM and for updates.

Chief Deputy Kenny Davenport tells KFDM News the man tried to break into the home in the 7000 block of FM 943, several miles outside of Kountze, at about 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say the wife told them her husband broke into the home through a back window and walked into her bedroom. She said he was holding a metal object. Investigators believe that object was a lawnmower blade later found under Anderson's body.

Davenport said Anderson's wife told her husband to leave. When he refused, she said she fired one shot from a handgun and killed Anderson.

Davenport says Anderson's wife had a protective order against him.
