Council to vote on hiring Jasper police chief

The mayor of Jasper tells KFDM News he expects council to vote Monday on hiring a  police chief.

It would be the second time in less than three weeks council has voted on a chief to replace Rodney Pearson.

Last year Jasper council fired the city's first black police chief after some members criticized his job performance.

On  October 4th council members hired Aaron Tyksinski to fill the position.

Last week he decided not to accept the job because it would affect his ability to get a PhD.

Mayor Mike Lout says a search firm is negotiating with a second candidate for the job and Monday Lout expects council to vote on the position.
