Man hospitalized after shooting on Euclid

BEAUMONT - A 33-year-old Beaumont man is in critical condition at Christus St. Elizabeth following a disturbance that ended in gunfire in front of a south Beaumont residence.

Beaumont police responded to calls of shots fired around 12:20 p.m. in the 2700 block of Euclid Friday afternoon and Sgt. Rob Flores said that when officers arrived at the scene they found 33-year-old Beaumont resident Julius Stelly lying in the driveway of the house.

Stelly had multiple gunshot wounds to his back and lower body.

Beaumont EMS transported him to Christus St. Elizabeth where he was listed in critical condition and was being prepared for surgery around 2:20 p.m.

Officers spoke with witnesses who said that Stelly had been involved in an argument with an acquaintance in front of the house and said that sometime during that disturbance the acquaintance pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at Stelly.

Flores said the shooting suspect then fled the area in a green SUV. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and are trying to confirm the identity of the suspect.
