Man sentenced to 25 years for using gun to rob women

A judge sentenced a Beaumont man to 25 years behind bars for using a gun to rob women in the parking lot of a busy shopping center and a hospital.

A jury found 48-year-old Ronald Lee Young Sr. guilty of one robbery charge Wednesday. Young then pled guilty to the second robbery.

Beaumont police arrested young in 2012.  Young robbed two women within 13 days of each other last November.

In court Young admitted he attacked one woman in the parking garage of Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth.  He said he stole her purse and fired one shot at the ground. She wasn't hurt.

Also today a jury convicted Young for another robbery.

Prosecutors said Young attacked a woman in the parking lot of Target in Beaumont, pointed a gun at her, took her purse, and fired one shot at the ground.

Young has to serve 12 and a half years before he is eligible for parole.
