A student at Jasper High School is being questioned by police after he allegedly discharged a container of pepper spray in a classroom on Thursday.
The superintendent of schools, Dr. Richard Skuza, said the incident occurred sometime before lunch. According to Skuza, the room had to evacuated and some of the students experienced irritation, but no injuries resulted from the incident.
Skuza said that a weapon known as brass knuckles was also found in the possession of the student, whose name has not been released.
Officers from the Jasper Police Department were called to the scene and took the student into custody.
Pepper spray, also known as capsicum spray, is an irritant to be used in self defense against individuals and also dogs and other animals.
