Pro-life supporters share their message across Southeast Texas

BEAUMONT- by Haley Bull

Pro-life Southeast Texans took a stand against abortions, euthanasia and assisted suicide Sunday as part of a nationwide pro-life prayer day called Life Chain. Right to Life Southeast Texas sponsored 12 separate locations locally for today's event.

Supporters held signs, prayed and hoped to share their message with passing cars.

"We stand here silently praying and witnessing to the people who pass by that we're pro-life," Victor Soares, president of Right to Life Southeast Texas, said.

Supporters lined up along Dowlen Road at Calvary Baptist Church.

"This is the only way we're gonna stop it is you've got to be part of the movement, you got to take it to your heart," Roy Kirkland said.

Him and Mary Pat Jones were two of the pro-life supporters that shared their message today.

"I think a lot of women think that it's an easy solution for a problem that they feel like they can't solve and that they don't realize the repercussions from having an abortion," Jones said. "I would like to bring awareness to the women of the community and around that this is not the solution that there are other options."

Supporters shared their message to the community at 12 locations throughout Southeast Texas in hopes of spreading their views to the people who saw their signs.

"I think that everyone that passes in the car and see these they might if they dont know about it they might investigate about it," Doni Marino, another supporter, said.

The Life Chain event is a nationwide day set for the first or last Sunday of October.

Planned Parenthood said "despite the claims of those who oppose safe and legal abortion," they have demonstrated several benefits for American women in the 40 years since the passing of Roe v. Wade.
