Search warrant yields seizure of pot, pills, guns

BEAUMONT - by Lauren Huet

More than a dozen police officers converged on a home and seized drugs and guns. They arrested a man, but investigators left the Beaumont neighborhood knowing they still had work to do on the case.

Pot, pills, and guns; the end result of a search warrant this morning. Beaumont officers, some with the Street Crimes Unit, others with the Narcotics Unit, searched a home in the 2400 block of South Fourth Street. Investigators also searched a car parked in front of the home.

Police arrested a man. They don't know if he lives at the home, but a lieutenant told us the man was "operating out of the home." An officer carried a blue tupperware container out of the house, as several guns, and placed them in a police SUV.

The search warrant yielded a half pound of marijuana, a bottle of Xanax pills, and four guns.

Lieutenant Ky Brown said police are looking into the guns.

"Well right now we're going to determine whether the guns had been stolen or not, whether he was possessing them legally, and we'll file the case," said Brown.

Brown said lately Beaumont police have been dealing with a "rash of stolen guns."
