Fire causes minor damage to seafood restaurant
BEAUMONT - Investigators say smoldering towels sparked a fire that caused minor damage to a Beaumont seafood restaurant.
Shortly after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a report of smoke billowing from the Seafood Cajun Express, 4849 W Cardinal Dr. When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the roof of the business.
Firefighters had to force their way into the business, which was closed. Once they made their way inside, firefighters found a small fire in a storeroom.
The fire appears to have been caused by several smoldering towels. Fire damage was minor and there were no injuries.
The Beaumont Health Department was notified and a Health Inspector responded to the scene.
