Off duty school cop helps arrest robbery suspect

HOUSTON  by KHOU 11 News and

An off-duty police officer with the Houston Independent School District helped lead to the arrest of two robbery suspects early Wednesday.

The robbery was reported at a bank on Westeimer Road near Dunvale just before 7 a.m. The off-duty officer followed the suspects, who were in an Oldsmobile sedan.

The suspects led police to the West Loop and then to the North Loop where they bailed out of their vehicle at North Main.

One of the men was caught nearby while the other ran from police and went under the freeway overpass. He was also caught following a brief foot pursuit.

Police set up a search perimeter as there were unconfirmed reports a third suspect may have bailed from the vehicle as well.
