Beaumont orthodontist headed to prison

BEAUMONT - A 70-year-old Beaumont orthodontist has been sentenced to federal prison after being found guilty of defrauding the Medicaid program of more than $800,000.

Terrence Ewing Syler pleaded guilty in June to health care fraud. On Thursday, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison.

He was also ordered to forfeit $839,000 and pay a $6,000 fine. Syler owned and operated Syler Orthodontics in Beaumont.
