Family relieved after suspect arrested in liquor store shooting

A family is breathing a sigh of relief after Nederland Police arrested and charged a suspect in a liquor store robbery and shooting.
Nederland Police arrested Christopher Hebert, 33, Friday and charged him with aggravated robbery for the robbery at Twin City Liquor in Nederland Nov. 16th that left the store owner shot.
"It's very painful. No son wants to see that. Seeing your father get shot and unexpectedly, too" Sahil Thobani said.
Thobani is the store owner's son. He helps work the register at the liquor store on Twin City Highway in Nederland.
"Whenever I came back here, just the whole time I was behind the register thinking about it that that's where my dad got shot," Thobani said.
They're memories of finding his father covered in blood.
"I just think of the suspect not caring about what he was doing," Thobani said. "He put money over life and that's what got into him."
Police said a gunman robbed the store and shot Thobani's father, Siraj Thobani.
"We were all just very happy that he got caught because you never know, he can rob another store, you know. So we're all very happy that he's gonna pay his punishment," Sahil Thobani said.
While Hebert is in jail, the store is taking extra precautions.
"We're gonna try to raise the security a little bit higher and put cameras everywhere," Thobani said.
One surveillance camera already installed helped identify the suspect. It captured a gunman walking into the store with his gun out. He shot Siraj Thobani in his upper right shoulder. The store owner opened the register. the gunman reached across the counter, grabbed some cash and ran. That's when Sahil Thobani said he found his father and called police.
"I think he should pay the price and be punished. Jail for a long time," Sahil Thobani said.
The price of leaving a bullet in the store owner's shoulder. Siraj Thobani underwent surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
Investigators said Hebert's bond is set at $2 million. Hebert is also a suspect in an armed robbery in Groves.
