National Adoption Day to celebrate children finding forever homes

ORANGE - Orange County along with Child Protective Services hosted National Adoption Day to celebrate children finding Forever Families.

A year ago, more children were adopted from Texas foster care than ever before, but there was still need for more adoptions.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month, so the focus now is to find homes for these children in Southeast Texas.

About 6,500 children in Texas foster care are waiting to be adopted. And, two thirds of them are not living with someone who plans to adopt them.

The  biggest need is for families to adopt older children, siblings and minorities.
