Explosion destroyed a home, forced an evacuation

JASPER - A massive explosion in a neighborhood destroyed one home and forced police to evacuate neighbors.

Investigators say a fire at a vacant home on the corner of College and
Peachtree Streets caused a drag-racing truck that was parked behind the home to explode Friday night.

The house went up in flames.

The explosion also destroyed a neighbor's storage shed and everything inside.

The Jasper police department got nearby residents out of their homes.

Jasper electric workers turned off electricity near the explosion.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
