Judge Bob Wortham announced he's running for Jefferson County District Attorney

KFDM News - Judge Bob Wortham announced Wednesday that he will run for Jefferson County district attorney next year.

Wortham officially announced his intention to run for district attorney during a news conference outside the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Longtime District Attorney Tom Maness will retire by the end of the year.

Wortham is the 58th district court judge in Jefferson County. He served for a number of years as the United States attorney for this area.

He said he's looking forward to a new challenge and a new opportunity to serve the public.

Tomorrow, attorney Kent Walston will announce his plans to run for judge of the 58th District Court -- the job Wortham now holds.

County Attorney Tom Rugg has said he also plans to run for judge of the 58th court.
