Another round of showers scheduled later this afternoon. Moisture levels will remain rather high for the next few days with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. Some of the heaviest activity will likely be around the end of the week. With more clouds and scattered showers, temperatures will be cooler for afternoon highs.
Hit and run badly injures 5-year-old; Troopers looking for driver
Trooper Stephanie Davis with the Department of Public Safety tells KFDM News the girl has been flown to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
They have not released her condition.
PRESS RELEASE FROM DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY:
This evening between 5:10pm and 5:19pm there was a hit and run crash that left a 5 year old Mauriceville girl severely injured. The crash occurred in the 5300 block of Woodland Drive in Mauriceville. The child was walking unaccompanied in the street when she was struck by a black passenger vehicle. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Woodland Drive. The vehicle will have damage to the passenger side near the outside mirror.
The child is in serious condition with head injuries at St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont.
Anyone who may have been in the area of the crash or has any information about the crash should contact DPS Communications at 936-699-7340. This office receives calls 24 hours a day.
This is an active crash investigation; therefore, information will be released as it becomes available. The child's name will not be released at this time.
