KFDM reports live from Nederland liquor store shooting

NEDERLAND- by Haley Bull

Police are looking for a suspect that shot the store owner of Twin City Liquor in Nederland.

Sgt. Kevin Jones with the Nederland Police said a man entered the liquor store on Twin City Highway around 8:30 p.m. with a gun out. Jones said the suspect shot the store owner, Sam Thobani, 52, in his upper right chest. Thobani opened the cash register. The suspect reached across the counter and took an unknown amount of money.

Investigators said the suspect is a white male, 25-30 years old, around 6 feet tall and weighing 180-185 pounds. The suspect was wearing a camo zip up jacket with a hood, dark pants and black gloves. He has a reddish mustache.

Jones said Thobani was taken to Christus Hospital St.Elizabeth in stable condition.
