Man in custody following shooting and high-speed chase

A spokesperson with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says they have taken a man into custody on a charge of shooting his father and leading officers on a high-speed chase.
Daniel Gary Moton, 45, of Fannett, is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Evading Arrest/Detention with a Motor Vehicle. Total bond is $57,500.
Deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the 14000 block of Gray Rd. in Fannett just before 9:30 Sunday night.
Deputy Rod Carroll with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said the suspect drove from the home in his bluish-gray Ford F-250 pickup and outlined the following events:
- The suspect headed northbound on Highway 124. A deputy spotted the truck and attempted to stop the driver, but the suspect was able to get away, igniting the chase.
- The suspect made his way to Interstate 10 and back to Highway 24, reaching speeds of 100 mph. Deputies attempted to deploy spike strips, but the suspect missed them.
- He drove to a house near Fannett and Walden, got out of the car and ran to the house. Investigators discovered the house belonged to his mother.
- The suspect was tased.
- Beaumont police assisted in the arrest.
Deputy Carroll says the father was transported to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his lower torso.
Investigators have not released the names of the two men.
