Golf cart collision in Port Neches leaves one dead
PORT NECHES - One person is dead following a motor vehicle collision involving a golf cart in Port Neches Tuesday night.
According to the Port Neches Police Department, the collision occurred when the driver of the golf cart pulled onto Highway 366, from 4th Street.
A vehicle struck the driver side of the golf cart, injuring the golf cart's driver.
The driver of the golf cart later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not released the name of the person killed in the collision.
FROM THE PORT NECHES POLICE DEPARTMENT:
At 7:33pm officers were dispatched to Hwy 366 and 4th St. in reference to a major accident involving a vehicle and a golf cart.
Preliminary investigation indicates the golf cart failed to yield right of way at the stop sign on 4th St.
The golf cart was traveling west on 4th St and pulled out in front of a vehicle north on Hwy 366 and was struck by the vehicle on the driver's side of the golf cart.
The driver of the golf cart sustained serious injuries and later died.
Investigators do not believe speed was a factor but visibility was less than ideal due to slightly foggy conditions.
The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed and the victims name has not been released at this time.
Officers just left the scene and more details will be released tomorrow morning.
