Cashier, cook hide in freezer to avoid McDonald's robber

HARRIS COUNTY - by Andrew Horansky/KHOU 11 News and

A quick-thinking clerk shut the register on an armed man who drove up to a McDonalds drive-through window early Thursday.

The attempted robbery was reported in the 4900 block of N. Sam Houston Parkway at Bammel North Houston Rd around 3 a.m.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriffs Office said a man pulled up and pulled out a gun, demanding money from the cashier at the drive-through window. She closed the register and fled to the restaurants freezer along with a cook.

The suspect, who was possibly driving a dark blue Honda CRV, got away empty-handed.

The workers pushed a panic alarm, and deputies arrived at the scene.

This is at least the fourth drive-through incident of its kind since early October in the Houston area. In November, shots were fired in a McDonalds on Tomball Parkway, but no injuries were reported.

Anyone with information about any of these cases can call the sheriffs office at 713-221-6000 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
