Children escape fire

BEAUMONT - Two children -- who were home alone when a fire started -- were able to make it out safely.

Fire investigators say a space heater placed too close to a bed caused the blaze at the home in the 500 block of Langham in Beaumont.

A 13-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were home at the time. A passerby helped them escape from the house.

Fire fighters were able to keep the fire contained to one bedroom, but it was heavily damaged.

No one was injured.
