Local man convicted of killing Lamar University freshman

KFDM News - It took a jury less than one hour to convict a Hardin County man of killing a Lamar University freshman.

The jury convicted Curtis Glaze of murder. Glaze could face up to life in prison. His sentencing is expected to take place on Friday.

Eighteen-year-old Brian Drake was killed in November of last year.  He died from a bullet that was shot at his truck and hit him in the back of the head.

Deputies say Drake was trying to get away from Glaze and his cousin, Joshua Glaze. Investigators say they were chasing Drake on Highway 326 between Kountze and Sour Lake.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspects fired several shots at Drake's truck.

One bullet struck Drake, and his truck veered off the highway and went over an embankment before it came to rest in a field.

He died at the scene.

Joshua glaze was also charged with murder. He has not gone to trial.  If convicted, Joshua Glaze could also face up to life in prison.
