Preliminary autopsy shows Alfred Wright's body had shallow puncture wounds

NEWTON COUNTY - A preliminary autopsy report shows a Jasper man had shallow puncture wounds to his body. The report doesn't indicate a cause of death for Alfred Wright.

His family reported him missing November 7. Investigators discovered his truck parked at a convenience store but there was no sign of Wright.

The Sabine County Sheriff's Office and a number of other agencies and volunteers began looking for the 28-year-old man. His body was found November 25 off Highway 87 near Hemphill. Searchers discovered his shirt, pants, one sock and a shoe, along with his watch, near a fence at the end of a pasture.

A Newton County justice of the peace released a preliminary autopsy Tuesday. It shows Wright had shallow puncture wounds to his stomach, left thigh, lower left leg and palm of his left hand. There was no sign of severe trauma and the report doesn't list a cause of death.

A toxicology report is pending. The Texas Rangers are investigating Wright's death.
