We still have an active weather pattern for Sunday into next week with locally heavy thunderstorms developing with daytime heating. Some of the storms will produce gusty winds and frequent lightning strikes. Rain chances remain high for mid week as a cold front sags south into East Texas.

World AIDS day march in Port Arthur

Organizers say it's all about increasing awareness of HIV and AIDS and prevention.

This morning several dozen people stepped onto the streets in Port Arthur  for a World AIDS Day march hosted by the Port Arthur health department.

Major advances such as new drug therapies, early diagnosis and preventive education are prolonging and improving the quality of life for those living with the disease.

But health workers say it's an epidemic that's far from a cure and continues to plague the community.

Sunday marked the global observance of World AIDS Day.
