Opening court statements start Monday in 2012 Thanksgiving pileup crash

JEFFERSON COUNTY-

Family members of the couple killed in a massive 100 car pileup Thanksgiving 2012 will be in Jefferson County Monday to begin opening statements in a civil lawsuit.

Jury selection was held on that suit on behalf of Debra and Vincent Leggio Sr. last week. Their children are suing the truck driver who ran into the couple's car and the trucking company.

The collision was caused by heavy fog near Hamshire Rd., injuring dozens of people. The Leggio's were the only people killed in the wreck.

Opening statements begin Monday morning in Judge Donald Floyd's court.
