BISD employee: "I apologize" for SuperNews district articles
BEAUMONT - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News
KFDM News has obtained the email written to Superintendent Dr. Timothy Chargois by Communications Specialist Nakisha Myles the day after our story aired about possible plagiarism in SuperNews, the weekly district newsletter:
Dear Dr. Chargois,
Please accept my humble and sincere apology for the negative publicity that I have brought to you concerning the weekly newsletter Super News. I am embarrassed and regretful for my hurried submissions where I failed to use quotation marks or reference sources.
I believe that excuses are unacceptable in this case. However, I will try to explain how this happened. As you know, you and I meet regularly to discuss the topics you want to share in the newsletter. My job as communications specialist is to capture your thoughts and present them in a succinct way to help employees and various audiences understand your values and goals and to know more clearly about activities going on that impact the education of students and the well-being of employees. You trusted me with this very important task. As I produced Super News on your behalf, I failed in making sure that all of the weekly editorials met our standards. As you trusted me, I have trusted others in assistance for proofing, editing and on occasion writing. In our haste, I failed thoroughly check editorials as I focused on a number of other projects and time sensitive critical issues going on in BISD.
Again, I apologize. Know that this will never happen again. It is my intent to correct the editorials as soon as possible. I am truly sorry.
