Synopsis.......

 

A good coverage of rain can be expected tonight into Friday as a rather strong upper level disturbance moves in from the west.  Some of the rains Friday will be locally heavy with the potential for 1-2 inches of rain in some spots.  Drier and cooler air will take over Friday night into Sunday.

Gas leak shuts down traffic in Beaumont

UPDATE:
BEAUMONT -  A gas leak has been stopped after it shut down traffic on several Beaumont streets earlier this evening.

The call came around 5 p.m. at the 2800 block of Avenue B near Pipkin.

When crews arrived, they found natural gas making its way into the sanitary sewer at the 3800 block of avenue A.

Centerpoint energy worked to stop the leak.

Captain Brad Pennison with the fire department says emergency workers checked on area residents...

He says no one had to be evacuated and no one was injured.

INITIAL REPORT BELOW:
BEAUMONT - Beaumont Fire officials are asking motorist to avoid the 3200 block of Avenue B due to a gas leak in the area.

Center Point is on its way to fix the problem.
