Man badly injured after car slams into utility pole

PORT ARTHUR - Police are investigating a crash on Thursday morning that seriously injured a man and split a utility pole in half.

The driver crashed into the utility pole in the3000 block of Gulfway. The impact split the pole in half. The top half became snagged in power lines.

Police say the driver's head struck the windshield.

Following the crash, Entergy crews worked to replace the broken utility pole and repair the power lines.
