Dangerous fog rolls in
SOUTHEAST TEXAS-By: Leslie Rangel
Floating thick fog took over many roads here in southeast Texas early Wednesday morning.
"It took me longer because of the fog, especially coming through downtown, it was on the road, it probably took me an extra 30 minutes than what it normally does," one driver said.
"You can see an 8th of a mile ahead of you," another driver says.
"It has been pretty foggy," One driver says.
The thick blanket was responsible for at least two accidents.
This one sent two teens to the hospital.
"If your in fog, there's no reason for you to be driving the posted speed limit of 75-65 miles an hour," Trooper Stephanie Davis with the Texas Highway Patrol says.
Trooper Davis says many drivers don't think about the dangers fog can bring.
"Fog makes you, gives an illusion that everything is in slow motion which it's not," Davis said.
An illusion she says driver's must not give into.
"Those basic four things, turn headlights on low beam, reduce your speed, allow for more space between you and other vehicles and obviously again reduce the number of distractions between you and another vehicle," Davis says.
Tips one driver from Houston says everyone should heed.
"We're all seeing and going through the same things so just be aware, I did see a couple of wrecks so those could've probably been prevented," the driver says.
