Judge Walker not seeking reelection

A judge who decided not to run for reelection says he never viewed the job as a lifetime pass to remain in office.

Layne Walker has served 11 years as judge of the 252nd criminal district court in Jefferson County.

He filed for reelection last month but Walker told KFDM News that last week someone offered him a business opportunity that was too good to pass up.

The judge says he's proud of his service and in his words "I've weathered every storm" and tried to remain fair in the process.

Raquel West and Langston Adams are running for the seat, they have filed today for the Democratic primary.

Carolyn Wiedenfeld has filed in the Republican primary.
