Investigators suspect alcohol was a factor in Kountze crash that injured four

KOUNTZE- Investigators suspect alcohol was a factor in crash that injured four people.

Troopers said the driver of a truck lost control of the vehicle about 2 a.m. Sunday on Wiliford Rd. in Kountze. The truck traveled off the road and hit a culvert. It then went airborne, struck a tree and landed upside down.

Investigators said the front passenger, 18 year old Haley McDuffie, was trapped in the truck for an hour and that they used the jaws of life to get her out.

McDuffie was taken to Christus Hospital St.Elizabeth with broken bones and is in stable condition.

Both rear passengers, William Tucker, 17, and Chae Buller, 17, were also taken to local hospitals with broken bones.

The driver, Jerred White, 20, of Sour Lake, was taken to Christus Hospital St.Elizabeth and is in stable condition.

The crash is still under investigation.
