Texas Department of Public Safety
At approximately 7:29am, Texas State Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 90 near Nome. The crash involved a 2008 Dodge Charger and a 2010 Peterbuilt truck tractor-semi trailer.
The truck tractor was stopped in the crossover between east and westbound traffic lanes on Highway 90. The driver of the truck tractor, 56 year old Rolando Escamilla of Clute, Texas, waited for westbound traffic to clear. As the truck tractor attempted to cross the westbound lanes of Highway 90, the 2008 Dodge Charger struck the truck tractor in the trailer. The driver of the Dodge, 17 year old Sarah Fontenot of China, and her 15 year old passenger were both transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the truck tractor was not injured.
Due to the weather conditions (extreme fog), Sarah Fontenot was issued a citation for Driving Without Headlights when Required.
