Temperatures will be a little cooler tonight into Friday as weak surge of cooler air works in from the northeast. No rain is still expected through the weekend with our next opportunity for rain not until Tuesday as a cool front moves through.
Shopping small year-round
WEST ORANGE - By Justin Hinton, KFDM News
Small Business Saturday may have come and gone, but it hasnt stopped West Orange shoppers from visiting the citys largest locally-owned store.
Danny Brack opened Dannys Super Foods in 1974 and serves breakfast and lunch and sells groceries.
Were large enough to serve you but small enough to know you, said Brack, echoing the stores motto. We know most of the customers that come in and repeat customers, so we just try to take care of them.
That motto is part of what keeps many of his customers coming back for more.
I come in here because its convenient for me, said Gary Hardt. I live just down the road.
Another customer said its the friendliness of the stores employees. Both are benefits, the mayor says, of a small business.
Wal-Mart's very important to our town as well as other large businesses, but the main business, the main thing are the small personal businesses where the owner can know you and you can know the owner, said Mayor Roy McDonald.
While a Wal-Mart may be coming to Bridge City, Brack says hes only a little nervous.
We were here before the one came to Orange, and were still here, he said.
