Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman tells KFDM News he traveled to Harris County Thursday morning and along with his deputies, ATF agents and the U.S. Marshal's Service, took a man into custody. Newman says the man didn't put up a struggle when they arrested him at a home. He plans to transport the man to the Jasper County Jail.
According to the Sheriff, the man will be charged with making a terroristic threat at a public place. The charge is a 3rd Degree Felony. He could face up to 2 years in a state jail if convicted.
Sheriff Newman wouldn't elaborate on the nature of the threat, but it prompted the Evadale superintendent to cancel classes Thursday and Warren ISD to release students at 10 a.m.
Deputies and other officers patrolled the empty Evadale schools to ensure the safety of the community, according to the Sheriff. Deputies also patrolled in and around the Warren ISD.
