Police: Victim in stabbing case does not want to press charges

The suspect is accused of shoplifting but police had more to talk with him about than theft.

Beaumont police were trying to find 21 year old Perry Banks Junior to question him about the stabbing of his brother.

Officers arrested Banks this afternoon for a Class C misdemeanor theft at Walmart.

Investigators brought him to the police station where family violence detectives questioned Banks and took a statement. He could face up to a $500 fine for shoplifting.

Police now say his brother does not want to press charges for the stabbing. Investigators plan to present a case to the district attorney's office and let it decide whether to move forward.

Police began looking for Banks Monday morning. Investigators say he stabbed his brother twice in the chest and once in the back during an argument at a home in the 3700 block of Usan in south Beaumont.

Officers say the victim's injuries are not life threatening.
