Good Samaritans help police catch man accused of stealing purse from car

Several good Samaritans helped police catch a man after police say he stole a purse from an unlocked car.

Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, a 64 year old yelled for help after having a purse stolen from her car at the Super Stop in the 6900 block of 32nd Street in Port Arthur.

Witnesses in the area then chased a 19 year suspect through a Groves neighborhood.

Police were notified and were able to apprehend the suspect.

During the course of the investigation, police said it was discovered the vehicle he was driving had been stolen earlier that morning from a business in Port Arthur.

The teen is charged with robbery and unauthorized use of a vehicle. His name has not been released.
