Silsbee superintendent releases statement regarding list

News Release
Silsbee ISD
Superintendent Richard Bain

School administrators and law enforcement continued the investigation today related to the Hit List found on the middle school campus on Friday.  Sheriffs deputies followed up on a lead and went to the house of a suspect, who is a Middle School student but not in attendance today.  The suspect confessed to writing the list and stated it was done as a prank.  The student who confessed had even included his own name on the Hit List.

Silsbee ISD wants to thank all of the law enforcement officers from the Hardin County Sheriffs Department and Silsbee Police Department for their presence and assistance in resolving this issue.  Though it appears that no actual threat to students safety existed, the district is not taking this lightly and plans on disciplining the student to the fullest extent allowed by law and district policy.
