Fire tears through homes in Port Arthur and Orange County

SOUTHEAST TEXAS-By: KFDM News

Four families are out in the cold tonight after a fire broke out at the Sherwood Forest Apartments in Port Arthur.

Port Arthur Fire Department arrived shortly before four Sunday morning at the apartment complex on Jimmy Johnson Blvd.

First responders found the roof near the back of the complex was on fire.

The whole unit was evacuated and power was cut off as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

ORANGE COUNTY: Another fire tore through a home, this one in Orange County on Highway 1131  near Vidor.

First responders say the fire broke out at about one Sunday afternoon.

Four people were at the home.

Residents believe the fire may have been caused by a dryer in their utility room.

The residents say their lives are more important than anything inside the home.
