Experts urge safety with fireworks

SOUTHEAST TEXAS - What a difference a year makes when it comes to fireworks in Texas.

At this time last year many parts of the state were experiencing a drought and a number of county governments banned fireworks.

Fireworks went on sale last Friday, December 20, in Jefferson County and across Texas. You can buy them through January 1. Although the weather isn't a problem, safety can become an issue if you don't follow common-sense guidelines.

Fireworks are illegal in most cities.
