Fire damages home in Orange

ORANGE - A fire overnight in Orange has caused heavy damage to a home in the 700 block of Curtis Avenue.

Investigators say a neighbor called to report the fire at about 3 a.m. in the home at 8th and Curtis.

The Orange Police Department was the first on the scene. When the Orange Fire Department arrived, there was heavy smoke and flames coming out of a window. The fire department was able to put out the fire, which was contained to two rooms.

A dispatcher tells us the home was empty at the time of the fire. No one was hurt. The home was a rent home and there was furniture in it. There was about $30,000 in damage.

The fire department says the fire is suspicious and they think a homeless person was in the house at the time of the fire. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Orange Fire Department.

The fire is still under investigation.
