Man arrested on aggravated robbery charge

A 55-year-old Beaumont man was arrested and booked on one charge of aggravated robbery Wednesday night, Sgt. Rob Flores said in a news release.

A 42-year-old woman was withdrawing money from the Chase Bank ATM located at 995 Washington and when she walked back to her vehicle, a man confronted her in the parking lot, displayed a knife, and demanded money, Flores said.

The woman gave the man the money she had withdrawn and he then fled on foot, Flores said.

The woman was not physically injured during the course of the robbery, Flores said.

Officers quickly arrived in the area and found a man matching the description of the robber who hd the exact amount of cash on him that was taken, Flores said.

The woman positively identified the man as the one who had robbed her, Flores said.

Officers identified the man as 55-year-old Beaumont resident Randy Kirkwood and officers transported him to the police station where he gave a voluntary statement to detectives, Flores said.

Oficciers then transported Kirkwood to the county jail and booked him in for one charge of aggravated robbery, Flores said.

Judge Giblin set a bond of $50,000, Flores said.
