Louisiana man arrested, accused of leading police on chase

BEAUMONT - A man is behind bars after leaving an accident scene and then leading Beaumont police on a chase.

Police say the 34-year-old man from Louisiana turned into the wrong lane heading south in a northbound lane and then hitting another car.

He drove away and led officers on a chase from Martin Luther King Road to Concord running red lights but never traveling at more than 40 miles an hour.

Police used spike strips to stop him on Concord near Lucas where police made the arrest.  Officers say they found him with crack cocaine.
 
He will face charges of felony evading arrest felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor failure to stop and render aid.
