Day three in trial of man charged in connection with death of his girlfriend's daughter

It's day three of testimony in the trial of a 32-year-old man accused of beating his girlfriend's three-year-old daughter.

Stephen Odom is charged with injury to a child. Prosecutors say he caused injuries that led to the little girl's death.

Odom took the stand this morning and when asked if he hit Jakyra, he said no. When asked if he ever "whooped" Jacob, Odom said "nah" and also stated, "they called me dad and I treated them that way."

Four-year-old Jakyra Henderson died two years ago. Yesterday her 7-year-old brother testified he saw Odom hit her twice in the stomach.

If convicted, Odom could face up to life in prison on one charge and up to 20 years on a second charge.
