PAISD board votes for proposed termination of teacher accused of assaulting student

PORT ARTHUR - Port Arthur Independent School District board members have voted  4-3 in favor of the proposed termination of a teacher accused of assaulting an 11-year-old student.

Ruby Gunner was charged with injury to a child. The board suspended the Robert E. Lee Elementary teacher back in May without pay.

The student's mother has said her son never denied kicking the teacher, but she says when he tried to go to the office, that's when Gunner punched him in the face. Gunner has maintained her actions were out of self defense.
