Two men arrested following traffic stop

Two men were arrested and booked into the Chambers County jail Tuesday on possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to police.

Deputies Carlton Carrington and Jimmy Mount initiated a traffic stop east of Jenkins Road while patrolling I-10 at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne.

Two men in a rented Nissan truck registered out of Georgia gave conflicting stories and consented to a search of the vehicle, police stated.

About 11 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $24,000 and a Glock 9mm pistol were discovered in the vehicle during the search, police stated.

The two men, 26-year-old Derail Curtis Hudson and 27-year-old Arliss Oneal Hudson, were then arrested and booked, police stated.

Bond was set at $15,000 on the marijuana charge and $4,000 on the weapons charge for each suspect, police stated.
